Through tomorrow, Tuesday February 11, Walgreens has a Points Booster offer in their ad. Get 5,000 Balance Rewards points ($5) when you spend $25 or more. Here are a few things to know about this offer:
1) The in-ad coupon (pg 1 of ad) may not work at the register (defective coupon). Some Walgreen's locations were provided with a working coupon for their registers, however, some cashiers may not be aware of this. If you have a Walgreen's Balance Rewards card that was enrolled with your email address, you may have also received this offer in your email. I printed mine out, and that coupon worked fine. If you didn't get this email or you can't print it, ask the cashier to find the working copy they should have by the register.
2) Many people are reporting that their cashier told them the 5,000 points didn't show up because a) they used Register Rewards to pay, or b) they used manufacturer coupons to pay, or c) they used points to pay. Answer C is correct, you will not get points when you use points to pay. Answers A and B are NOT correct. However, if you used a
Walgreen's coupon (instant value coupon found in the ad or in the monthly savings book) to pay, you DO need to deduct that amount from your total to get to $25.00.
Example: you have $25.10 of products in your basket, which includes Kraft Mac & Cheese for $1.69 before coupon(s). You're going to use the Walgreens ad coupon on pg 5 to make the price of the Mac & Cheese $.79 - a $.90 difference that you need to subtract from $25.10 = $24.20, which does not meet the $25 minimum to get the points booster. You would need to buy other items to bring your total to $25 or more to earn the 5,000 points booster.
* Sometimes Walgreens will give you a Walgreen's card with a dollar value for a refund of item(s). Use of these refund cards will cause points not to be earned. Don't use a refund card in a transaction where you are expecting to earn points. Not to be confused with rebate cards, which work fine.
